I gave you all the parts of me
that no one else could touch,
thinking love could bind us,
thinking you would stay.
You held my heart with careful hands,
said we’d be fine, forever still,
but the silence between us now
is a reminder of promises we never fulfilled.
Did you feel the weight of the words unspoken?
Did you ever wonder how my heart broke open?
Did you ever think I’d fall apart and not survive?
Or was I just a memory you’d soon forget,
left behind like the ghost of something you once wanted?
I was the girl who believed in us,
who saw forever in the stars we once counted,
but you pulled away, piece by piece,
leaving only the echo of a love that couldn’t breathe.
Was it ever real?
Or was I just a place to rest until you could move on?
Did you ever feel my absence?
Or was I just a moment that faded from your mind,
replaced by someone who fit the mold you left behind?
Now I’m learning how to fill the space
that your absence carved inside of me,
but there’s always that question—
What if we could have been everything?
What if you hadn’t let me slip away,
without a single word or reason?
What would have happened then?
I’m trying to unlearn the ache,
the weight of love that still lingers like smoke,
but the truth is, I’ll never stop asking,
What if you never let me go?
